BAKERSFIELD, CA- Hidden Cash hit Bakersfield Sunday night. It's a social media treasure hunt that rewards lucky searchers with cash.

Just before 6:00 p.m, the Twitter handle @HiddenCash announced five envelopes were hidden at Centennial Park.

Hundreds of people showed up.  Josh Maier found one of the envelopes in a barbeque after looking for just a few minutes.

Hidden cash was started by an anonymous real estate developer -- in the spirit of paying it forward. Maier plans to do just that.

Maier said, "Half of it to Good Will. I'm going to go right now, when I leave here. Pay it forward."

John Will also found an envelope.  "Showing some Bakersfield love. I think that's what we need. We need a little bit of love in Bakersfield. So whoever this guy is, we definitely thank you," said Will.

Whether they found the cash or not, they still had a good time.

"Thanks Hidden Cash guy!, "David Lopez said.

At last count the Hidden Cash Twitter account had 423,000 followers.

According to the Twitter, the next stop is back to San Francisco.
