BAKERSFIELD, CA -- Bakersfield detectives are going through a house in northeast Bakersfield, after a man was shot and killed there Monday morning. It happened at a home on Christmas Tree Lane just east of Columbus Street.
Officers got a call just before 5 Monday morning. Police say a man was trying to kick in the front door of a home. Before officers could get there, that's when the shooting occurred.
"While we were enroute, we learned the subject had been shot inside the residence. Officers arrived on scene and located a subject down inside of the residence," says Sgt. Clayton Madden, Bakersfield police.
Police say the man was pronounced dead. And they say the people living in the home knew the man. However they have not said how they know each other.
Police are interviewing the man inside the home who pulled the trigger. It's still not known if the man who was shot had a weapon, or how many shots were fired.
