BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Kern County Coroner has identified an 11-year-old boy hit and killed by a car when he was riding his bike in Southwest Bakersfield..
The accident happened around 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
Bakersfield police said Joshua Jimenez of Bakersfield was riding his bike with two other boys north on Caracas Avenue near Coral Key Park. Officers said when Jimenez crossed the intersection, he was hit by a car heading west on Harris Road.
Jimenez was taken to Mercy Southwest Hospital, but later died.
Police say they do not believe alcohol was involved in the accident and did not arrest the driver.
Anyone with information is asked to call the BPD at 327-7111.
