BAKERSFIELD, CA -- Lerdo Jail is on lockdown following a fight among male inmates in a yard. The fight was serious enough for Kern County Sheriffs to call out the emergency response team or the jail version of swat. The jail is expected to be on lockdown well into Saturday morning.
Deputies are not saying how the fight started, but they say they did require help from California Highway Patrol officers. They also brought in a helicopter with the sheriff's department.
"There were no deputies or officers that were injured and we had a few inmates that had a few minor injuries," said Lt. Lance Grimes, Kern County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say no visitors will be allowed at the male minimum facility through the weekend.
