A local woman who recently found out she's getting a kidney transplant, also learned over the weekend that the car she uses to get to her doctor's appointments was stolen.

It has been three years since Candie Young had a stroke which, she believes, eventually caused both of her kidneys to fail.

Even though she was sick in 2006, Young opened her home to the family of a teen who was killed in a hit and run accident steps from the Bakersfield Homeless Center.
Young invited the family of the victim to move into her home for the holidays.

But now, it's Young who needs help again.

She recently found a donor to get a kidney transplant. But, she woke up Saturday only to discover her car was gone.

"Now that we found a donor and we're going through with the L.A. back and forth, because she's passing, how am I supposed to get to go through with this? And, I go to dialysis once a month and it's across town and I use my car to go," said Young.

Young drives a 2002, white Dodge Stratus with handicap license plates. It has tinted back windows and was parked in her driveway.

If you see it, or have any information, call Candie Young at 328-0718.
