A local boy, who touched the lives of many here in our community and around the nation, has passed away. A person close to the family tells us 13-year-old Nathan Garcia passed away just after 10:30 Tuesday night.
Nathan just celebrated his thirteenth birthday Monday, something his doctors didn't think he would see. Nathan battled brain cancer, and his birthday wish was to collect toys for sick children in hospitals.
His parents had a big trip planned, with Hoffman Hospice offering an ambulance to take Nathan to San Francisco and Madera to personally deliver thousands of toys collected in his name.
But, his parents cancelled the trip, because of his worsening condition. Hoffman Hospice plans to carry out Nathan's wish.
