BAKERSFIELD, CA - Deputies say two teenage boys have been arrested after a video surfaced on social media depicting what's believed to be an animal on animal attack.
Sheriff's officials say animal control viewed the video which appeared to show two large dogs being fed a live cat while the attack was videotaped. In the video subjects in the background could be heard encouraging the dogs to attack the cat. After reviewing the videotape, Animal Control staff contacted the Kern County Sheriff’s Office and requested the Sheriff’s Office investigate the incident.
On Friday, Sheriff’s detectives interviewed a citizen who had reported the video the day before. After receiving additional information, detectives were able to identify the subject who had posted the video to the social networking site. During the investigation detectives identified two juvenile male suspects, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old. Detectives were able to determine the attack occurred somewhere in the Bakersfield area last summer and the two suspects were identified as the persons recording the video and encouraging the dogs to attack and kill the cat.
After the initial investigation, detectives arrested both suspects for animal cruelty. Both suspects were booked into Juvenile Hall. The investigation is ongoing.
