A memorial service will be held this Friday for the CHP officer, who died last week.
A Coroner's report released Sunday afternoon said Denny Drummond's death was suicide. He was found shot in the head Thursday night on Karla Street near Rosedale Highway. Officials say Drummond was being evaluated for a possible recurrence of cancer. He had been with the Highway Patrol for 14 years and was a military veteran.
Officials say a grave-side service will take place Friday at noon at Hillcrest Cemetery on Kern Canyon Road. It will be followed by a memorial service at two o'clock at Valley Baptist Church for anyone who wants to attend.
A trust fund has been set up for his wife and two boys called the Denny Drummond Fund. Anyone wishing to help the family financially can make a donation to the California Highway Patrol Credit Union in Sacramento at P.O. Box 276507. The account number is 121629 or people can contact their bank to see about a money transfer.
