ARVIN, CA - The city of Arvin celebrated its new spray park Monday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The spray-park is located at Smothermon Park, in the 800 block of Walnut Drive. It utilizes an underground water-tank to provide 100-percent recycled water, according to Kern County Fifth District Supervisor and Chair Leticia Perez, who attended the event.
Perez said the park is in a central location for residents, and the spray-park addition will add another reason for Arvin residents to come out and enjoy the outdoors during hot days.
"I can think of few things more worthy than funding projects that bring families out, keeps kids moving, keeps us recreating," Perez said. "It's really a great day to celebrate."
Funds for the project came from a community development block grant.
