BAKERSFIELD, CA.-Law enforcement, family, friends and community members gathered to remember retired Bakersfield police chief Eric Matlock and his legacy.
A huge crowd celebrated his life at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The gathering in the chapel was followed by a motorcade that escorted Matlock's family to his grave site.
After chief Matlock was laid to rest, his wife was presented with the flag that draped his casket. Attendees met at the Fire Hall after the funeral for a reception.
Chief Matlock lost his battle to cancer on September 25. His family asks that all donations be made to the Bakersfield Police Activities League.
