BAKERSFIELD, CA -- You may have to find an alternate route if you're traveling around southwest Bakersfield Friday night.
The city will begin a paving project around 10:00 p.m. Friday for the intersections of Stockdale Highway and Old River, plus the intersection of Stockdale Highway and California Avenue. The project is designed, officials say to improve ride quality at those intersections.
City officials say crews will be working, along with a contractor, to grind and pave the intersections. Sections of road will have lanes closed in all directions during this time which may result in traffic delays. The City thanks the public for their patience during this period.
Motorists are reminded to obey flagging personnel and construction signs and to pay close attention to road construction vehicles and personnel while driving through this area.
The City of Bakersfield apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause the traveling public. The project is expected to be completed by 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
