BAKERSFIELD, CA- A fertilizer leak at a crop field in south Bakersfield prompted a hazardous materials response Tuesday morning.
The Kern County Fire Department received several calls just after midnight about an odor in the area where South H Street curves into Curnow Road.
When fire crews arrived they found a leak in a 1,000 gallon tank of anhydrous ammonia.
Hazmat and the Kern County Environmental Health Department were called out. The California Highway Patrol and Bakersfield police were also called for traffic control.
Hazmat crews were able to shut down the leak by closing the valves.
Fire officials said here were no injuries or evacuations.
Curnow Road was closed for about 2 hours in the area but has since reopened.
