BAKERSFIELD,CA- It's described as the Spanish version of the "Today Show," "Un Nuevo Dia," meaning a new day in Spanish aired live from Bakersfield as part of a tour with renowned Spanish personality Ana Maria Canseco.
"We want to get closer to our people. We want to know them. We want to meet them," said Canseco.
"Un Nuevo Dia" recently snagged a daytime Emmy for outstanding morning program in Spanish. It was the first time the television academy recognized programming in Spanish.
The show is broadcast live from Miami weekdays, but on Wednesday morning went live from La Mina Cantina on Auburn Street in northeast Bakersfield.
"After he told me, as far as the exposure around the county and around the world. We were on board right away,"said owner Fabian Alex Ruiz.
Restaurant staff is providing breakfast for the live studio audience.
Un Nuevo Dia has been on the road the past week stopping by cities like San Diego, Los Angeles, now Bakersfield, and heads north to Fresno and San Jose.
