BAKERSFIELD, CA - It was a joyful homecoming Wednesday for a Bakersfield serviceman, after a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
Army National Guard Sergeant Ignacio Jimenez was swarmed by family members who've waited eleven months for this day.
He was quick to thank his neighbors and relatives for the moral support they've given him and his family.
"It's the least that he deserves. To have him home makes me speechless. It's a broken chain that isn't complete until they come back home," said Donna Jimenez, wife.
"It's great. It was a long eleven months out there, but coming home to family and friends, it's a great feeling inside," said Sgt. Jimenez.
Jimenez says he wants to get back to a normal life, and the first step was to grab a cold beer and kickback with his family.
