BAKERSFIELD, CA -- A southwest Bakersfield family told police they had a harrowing experience with would be burglars in broad daylight Wednesday.
It happened in the 6200 block of Martinique Court, near Harris and Ashe roads. A woman said she was home with her baby at about 10 a.m. when there was a knock at the door. She thought it was solicitors, so she didn’t answer. Three men kicked down the door and came in the house.
The woman hid with her baby and called her husband and Bakersfield Police. The husband got there first and slashed the burglars’ tires.
The burglars raced away in the car, but didn’t get far on the flat tires. They crashed on Laurel Canyon Drive. Police surrounded the area and arrested two adults and a teenage boy. One of them suffered bites from a BPD dog.
