An attempted robbery at a market in south Bakersfield ended with one of the suspects being shot by a store clerk.
It happened at the Union Market on South Union Avenue near Price Street.
Sheriff's investigators say two men, wearing masks and carrying handguns, entered the store around 8:30 Thursday evening.
"During the robbery, the clerk fired, striking one of the individuals. The second individual fled on foot. The individual that was struck by a gunshot was transported to Kern Medical Center," said Lt. Dana Albro, Sheriff's Department.
The condition of the suspect was not released. The search for the second suspect continues.
Those two men are also suspected of robbing another market an hour earlier.
Bakersfield police say two gunmen, also wearing masks, walked into the 4th Street Mini Market around 7:30 Thursday evening.
They left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
