BAKERSFIELD, CA--In this hustle and bustle world we live in, daddy-daughter date nights are few and far between for many families, but Friday was the night to make up for lost time. Two dances were held in Bakersfield. One at Berkshire Elementary and one at First Presbyterian Church. There was a common theme at both. No matter how young or old you are some traditions are worth keeping.

As the father daughter dance at Berkshire Elementary was winding down eight-year-old Emily was happy that she was spending time with her dad.

"I love him very much and he is very great even though he is a monkey," Emily said.

Across town, the party was in full swing at First Presbyterian Church. This was the seventeenth year the church has held their father daughter dance and Katie Camp flew in from Houston just to dance with her dad.

"We have been coming to it every year since it first started and we have missed two,” Camp said. “One when I lived abroad and one when he had a meeting out of the country. Other than that it was a very important tradition to us."

The Camps were by far not the oldest father daughter duo at the dance Friday night as 82-year-old Oran Hildebrand came from Fresno to take his daughter, Julie Anthes, to her first daddy-daughter dance.

"A little girl's first Valentine is her Dad,” Anthes said. “You are never too old to be on a date with her Dad and have your Dad be your Valentine. So it was really special."
