BAKERSFIELD, CA -- A man charged with the death of a 3-year-old Taft girl has taken a plea deal. Eric Foster entered a no contest plea Friday to first degree murder for the death of Trinity Hanna.
In exchange for his plea the charges of torture, willful cruelty to a child and lewd acts with a child under 14 were dismissed.
The toddler died nearly 2 years ago this month.
Deputies say Foster beat, scalded and slammed 3-year-old Trinity Hanna on a coffee table and her mother didn't report the abuse to authorities.
In March, Angela Hanna was sentenced to ten years in prison. Foster will be sentenced next month. Prosecutors say he is facing a term of 25 years to life in prison.
