BAKERSFIELD, CA- Bakersfield Police closed the intersection of Ming Avenue and New Stine Road for several hours Friday morning as they investigate a deadly car crash. They say alcohol and speed were factors.
Officers say Alex Rubio, 24, was speeding southbound on New Stine Road, just after 3:00 a.m., when he collided with a woman driving a silver Toyota.
The woman has been identified by the coroner's office as Princess Flores Almonidovar, 22, of Bakersfield.
Officers say Rubio fled the scene on foot. They found him in a nearby neighborhood.
Police arrested Rubio for felony driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, felony hit-and-run, felony vehicular manslaughter, and resisting arrest.
The intersection is expected to be closed until at least 10 a.m. Friday.
