BAKERSFIELD, CA -- The third defendant convicted in the murder of a 71-year-old woman during a robbery for her necklace, was sentenced Tuesday morning to life without parole plus four years.
Last month, a jury found Christopher Patterson guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree robbery and participating in a street gang. Guadalupe Ramos died from her injuries after Patterson came up behind her and ripped off her necklace in the Foods Co. parking lot on Haley Street in August 2012.
Ramos' daughter addressed the judge before sentencing, pleading for a stiff sentence. "He had no reaction, he had no remorse, and I am glad he got what he got. Now maybe he will have time to think about what he's done what he may have done to others," says Natalie Ramos.
Patterson's family members left the courtroom without comment. The other two defendants: Maxamillon McDonald and Lawrence Slaughter have both been found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
