WILDOMAR, CA -- A Bakersfield man has been arrested for auto theft in Riverside County. Riverside County Sheriff's officials say on Saturday afternoon an officer on patrol was driving through a shopping center when he saw a man sitting in a grey Chevrolet Silverado. The officer conducted a records check on the vehicle.
When the driver of the vehicle noticed the officer, he exited the truck and started walking away from the vehicle. Dispatch notified the officer that the vehicle was reported stolen out of the city of Delano in October. At that point, additional officers responded and took the suspect into custody without incident.
A K-9 officer arrived, conducted a search of the vehicle and located methamphetamine, multiple prescription pills and narcotic paraphernalia. Additionally, there were blank checks and credit cards belonging to other people inside the vehicle.
Andre Eric Rivera, 54, of Bakersfield, was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of methamphetamine, possession of schedule IV narcotic medication without a prescription, violation of parole, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. Rivera was transported to the Southwest Detention Center.
