DELANO, CA - It has been more than a month since Delano mother Erika Padron Lango, disappeared.
Detectives say they've exhausted their search areas and are once again asking the public for help. Delano Police say the amount of time that has passed worries them, but Erika's family says they're holding out hope she's still alive.
"Yeah, I feel that she's still alive. I don't know why, but I feel she's still alive. Or maybe I'm waiting for a miracle," said Guadelupe Guerrero, Erika's aunt.
Erika's family has prayer vigils for her every night. Lango disappeared October 9th after her estranged husband said she left her apartment to walk to a friend's house at night.
Her family has conducted their own searches in fields and canals, but have turned up no clues.
Police have also come up empty handed.
"As time passes, finding our missing is very slim - alive. Kern County Sheriff's Department dive team searched Lake Woollomes and found nothing there of Mrs. Erika Lango. We also had the Department of Corrections' K-9 dogs for cell phone search in the area and there was no cell phone for Erika Lango found as well," said Sgt. Pete Lopez, Delano Police Department.
Erika Lango's children are out of protective custody and are in the care of their paternal grandmother.
Police say Julio Lango is still considered a person of interest in his estranged wife's disappearance. He has supervised visitation with his children.
Police say they have some leads on people who may have seen Erika Lango last, but no one is considered a suspect at this time.
Julio Lango was in court earlier this month on a battery charge against Erika Lango, but his case was dismissed because no witnesses showed.
