BAKERSFIELD, CA - Thousands of couples rushed to the altar across the country and in Bakersfield Tuesday, which happened to be 11-12-13.
Victoria and Tony Diaz of Bakersfield sealed the deal, renewing their vows and claiming 11-12-13 as a special day of their own.
"All my friends, they know how we are. We are the goofy and romantic couple so they expect us to do something silly like this," said Victoria Diaz.
They are one of over 3,000 couples estimated by theknot.com to walk down the aisle on this date.
"To have this renewal on this special day, to have as a souvenir with the certificate, and since we just had our baby, you know, we will be able to have that for him to explain we just had you, and we want to have our vow renewal. And, it just seemed so special," said Victoria.
Thousands of other numeral nuptials happened across the country. One couple took the plunge in front of the nation on "The Today Show."
Owner of Bakersfield's Happily Ever After Wedding Ceremonies, Reverend Francis Cueto, says she typically performs three to four weddings a week. On 11-12-13, she had four locked in.
"People that are trying to be creative and memorable they want to make it something that's different. So, I did get calls. The calls that I got for today were booked months before. So, I'm waiting for same-day ceremonies as we speak," said Cueto.
With the Diaz ceremony and certificate, the local, longtime lovebirds will have a lifetime together sharing a once-in-a-lifetime date.
"The little ideas of 11-12-13 and just especially since yesterday was Veterans Day, you know even a little bit better. To see him in that uniform and celebrate him and what he's done. I like to see him in that uniform. It reminds me of everything he's been through and everything we've been through together," said Victoria.
The next consecutive date is next year, 12-13-14. It's a Saturday. Wedding organizers are expecting even bigger crowds.
