BAKERSFIELD - Volunteers were busy on opening day of the Kern County Fair.
On Wednesday, they were hard at work building a home for Habitat for Humanity.
It's the first Habitat house built at the fair since 2009.
At the fairgrounds Wednesday morning, they were hammering instead of gorging on fair food, sawing instead of swinging on the rides.
Volunteers from local McDonald's franchises, Wells Fargo, and Bakersfield West Rotary, got an early start on what will soon be someone's new home.
The building will take place over the next twelve days near the Fine Arts building.
Anyone interested in volunteering, should call the Habitat office at 861-8449.
