BAKERSFIELD - A man convicted of kidnapping and raping a woman in a bathroom at Martin Luther King Park, was sentenced Tuesday morning to 25 years-to-life in prison, plus five years.

During sentencing, several relatives of the defendant were kicked out of the courtroom.

Convicted kidnapper and rapist Anthony Matthew Rodriguez and his brothers all shouted profanities during sentencing.

Sheriff's deputies had to kick several of Rodriguez's relatives out of court as the judge read the sentence.

"That's all you do is throw people away like that? Anthony! Sit down Mr. Rodriguez!"

Deputies pushed Rodriguez back into his seat after he stood up shouting and cursing as his brothers were kicked out of court for doing the same.

Last month, a jury convicted Rodriguez of kidnapping and brutally raping a woman in a bathroom at the park back in March 2012.

Police initially arrested the wrong man after he was identified by an anonymous tip and in a photo lineup by the victim.

DNA later pointed to Rodriguez.

District Attorney Lisa Green says the victim is deaf and mute and was signing 'no' throughout Rodriguez's attack.

"Getting this trial over with was a huge step for her. It takes a long time to heal and hopefully the resources are available that she will be able to heal and move on with her life," said Green.

"I wish he could get another trial. There were things that weren't brought up in the trial. He doesn't deserve his life taken away. He's just a young boy," said Carmen Zamora, Rodriguez's mother.

Rodriguez later had to be dragged from the courtroom, crying.

His attorney Arturo Revello asked for a new trial, but the motion was denied. He says he will take the case to the court of appeals.
