McFarland, CA -- McFarland Police Department say they responded Wednesday night to Delano Regional Medical center in reference to a report of a stabbing victim who had just arrived after being driven there from the City of McFarland.
Through investigation, it was discovered the victim suffered two stab wounds, one to the lower neck and one to the mid-section of his back. The victim was transported to the Kern County Medical Center for emergency surgery and is currently listed in stable condition.
Officers from the McFarland Police Department discovered that victim and his cousin were in an altercation with the suspect, Jose Lopez, who used a knife to stab the victim during the altercation.
Further investigation led to the apprehension of Lopez, where he admitted to stabbing the victim in self-defense.
Suspect Lopez was also arrested on an unrelated burglary case, in which he admitted to breaking into a house and stealing jewelry. Lopez was booked at the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility.
