BAKERSFIELD- Eleven World War II veterans left for Washington, D.C. Thursday morning as part of Kern County Honor Flight.
The veterans will get a chance to see the World War II Memorial built in their honor. The trip is at no cost to them.
Each vet will be accompanied by a self-funded guardian. Cheryl Taylor was a guardian on four trips, including the first Kern County Honor Flight. She says it's a life changing experience for the veterans.
If you would like to get involved call 544-VETS.
Organizers are encouraging the community to welcome them home Saturday at 8:15 pm.
