Evacuations were being ordered Tuesday morning as a new brush fire threatened homes in the hilly areas just west of Interstate 5 near the Grapevine. Firefighters were scrambling to get to the area.

As of 9 a.m., the fire was about five acres. No injuries had been reported and no structures had been lost. One lane of southbound Interstate 5 was closed, but traffic was flowing smootly.

It's happening in Digier Canyon Road, near the community of Lebec.

Fire trucks, bulldozers and helicopters were being dispatched to the area. A command post was established at Tejon School.

The fire was reported at about 8:40 a.m. near where a very similar scenario played out last Friday afternoon. The fire that started then grew to more than 700 acres. It was supposed to have been contained by Wednesday morning.

Tuesday’s fire was reported just north of that area. The evacuations were along Digier Canyon Road, near the top of the hill.
