KERN COUNTY, CA -- The Kern County Sheriff's Department investigated the discovery of a woman's body in a Wofford Heights neighborhood Sunday.
The woman was found just after 6 p.m. on a hillside in the 200 block of Choppo Road. After deputies confirmed it was human remains, detectives were called to investigate.
Authorities said, due to the condition of the remains, the woman has not been identified. An autopsy is scheduled for later in the week to confirm the woman's identity and determine the manner and cause of death.
The Sheriff's Department has not drawn a connection, but Brandi Tanner, 22, went missing in Wofford Heights on July 8. At the time, deputies said she might have been with friends or associates in the Ridgecrest area.
