Northeast Bakersfield-Bakersfield City and Kern County firefighters responded to an apartment fire early Wednesday in northeast Bakersfield.
The flames erupted at the Vernon Vista apartment complex just after 6 a.m. in the 2400 block of Eric Way. The complex is in a neighborhood near the intersection of Mt. Vernon Avenue and Columbus Street. Initial reports of someone possibly trapped proved to be untrue, the Bakersfield City Fire Dept. reported. No injuries were reported.
The fire damaged at least one unit, and smoke appeared to have damaged adjacent units, firefighters said.
