BAKERSFIELD, CA - The fireworks will return to the skies above Bakersfield College this Fourth of July. After a four year absence, Vision Corps and Canyon Hills Church is putting on "I Love America - Liberty Festival and Freedom Celebration."
Along with the fireworks show, there will be a free festival that includes food, music, games, and contests.
The Bakersfield Firefighters Association put on the annual fireworks show for 55 years until they cancelled it in 2010 because they couldn't afford it.
"Everywhere we go, when talking about this to people in the city, so far without fail, anyone that has spoken with us is, 'oh I can't believe its back! I'm so excited! We need this in the city.' We are very excited and we're very blessed to have the opportunity to present this again," said Debbie Moore with Vision Corps.
The event is Thursday, July 4th at the B.C. Memorial Stadium on Mount Vernon. The festival begins at 2 pm and fireworks start at 7:30 pm. Tickets are 12 dollars for adults, 5 dollars for kids under 12.
