Bakersfield, Ca. --A Memorial Day weekend party ended with a shooting and two people dead, including a local teenager.

Flowers and candles mark the spot where the shooting happened just before 1:30 Sunday morning in the 3700 block of Columbus Street, near Oswell Street in northeast Bakersfield.

Sergio Botelo told 17 News he was hosting what was supposed to be a small party, but quickly became out of hand.

As more people started showing up, he says he kicked everyone out and that's when he heard shots fired outside.

"I was just say it's just a brawl, just like, it like happens every other couple weeks. Somebody just pulls out a gun and starts shooting. There's just some things you can't avoid, people out there who can't control themselves."

20-year-old Jose Garcia III and 17-year-old Feliberto Ponce of Bakersfield were shot and killed.

Police say the other two victims, 20-year-olds Ramon Garza and Reginald Bailey, are in critical but stable condition.

If you have any information, call police at 327-7111.
